Photoshop tutorials: Creating Rays
On the Internet you can often find tutorials which are called Japanese sun or rays. The problem is that most of them are not well explained and too complicate. That's why I'm going to teach you now, how to create rays really fast uncomplicated.01. Create a new document (ctrg+n). The size doesn't matter so feel free to adapt it to your own purpose.
02. Now grab the Rectangular Marquee Tool and draw some vertical lines. Feel free to use always the same width or vary. I made different-sized lines and my result looks like this:
03. The get the effect of rays you now have to make use of the Distort Filter. Use Filter » Distort » Polar Coodinates. A new window opens and gives you a preview how your result will look like. Make sure the sitting Rectangular to Polar is activated and confirm.
That's all. Easy, isn't it? You now should have a result that looks similar to mine:
