Adobe PS tutorials: Lighten effect

The Ligthen effect is just perfect if you want to add some suspense or simply light to your images. Besides this Blending Mode is very easy to handle and doesn't take much of your time. This effect looks really great on monochrome (black/white) pictures and to support other effects (such as in the example).

1. Take an image of your choice, no matter if colored or not.
2. Have a look at your layer window (F7) and add a new layer.
3. Now you have to add a color or light texture* to your image.
4. Set the Blending mode of the colored/ textures layer from Normal to Lighten.

*If you want to try out light textures just have a look at the textures area on Grieved-Lightness. You'll also find some light icon texture there.
